What happens to estate parking when it rains?
It becomes a field, because that is what it is. Goodwood parks on grass, and after heavy rain a low executive saloon on summer tyres is genuinely the wrong vehicle. Which approach road do you use, and why does it matter?
The A286 through Singleton is the obvious route and the reason people sit still for an hour. Our drivers use the Chichester side roads and time arrival before 09:00, because both the A286 and the A285 are single-carriageway and have no capacity to absorb a festival crowd. On exit we stagger the release for the same reason.
Is Festival of Speed different from Revival for planning?
Yes. Festival of Speed is larger, hotter and more family-heavy, with the hillclimb running all day and a later, more spread-out exit. Revival is smaller but the dress and the paddock rhythm make it a longer day on site. We plan Festival around an early arrival and a staggered evening release, and Revival around changing facilities and kit storage.
