Because the bridge is single-lane in each direction and saturated all day, we set you down on the correct bank for your badge rather than crossing twice.
Is the Stewards' Enclosure dress code really enforced?
Yes - it is refused at the gate rather than discussed. Gentlemen need a lounge suit or jacket and tie, ladies a dress or skirt with a hemline below the knee, and trousers are not admitted. Practically that means travelling in it: there is nowhere convenient to change in Henley on regatta days, though the car can carry a spare pair of shoes for the towpath.
Where does the car wait during the racing?
Outside the town centre. Henley's roads have no capacity for vehicles standing during the regatta and enforcement is active, so the chauffeur stages a few minutes out on the correct bank and returns on your call.
