Do you drive onto the Isle of Wight or meet the ferry?
Either, and the choice matters for cost. Most clients are set down at Southampton Terminal 2 for the Red Jet and met at Cowes by an island-side car, because vehicle ferry space during Cowes Week is scarce and expensive. If you need one vehicle throughout we can book the car ferry, but it must be reserved well in advance.
How do you plan around the ferry timetable?
Backwards from the sailing, not forwards from your front door. We take the booked crossing, add the terminal check-in window, then add contingency for the M3 and Southampton city traffic, which is heavy all week. If a sailing is cancelled or you miss it, dispatch re-times the island-side car rather than leaving you to sort it at the terminal.
What is different about firework night?
Cowes and Southampton both gridlock. The display draws crowds well beyond the regatta itself and the road and ferry capacity does not change to match. We add roughly an hour in each direction on that day and set collection points away from the seafront, because vehicles cannot reach the Parade while the crowd disperses.
Can you carry wet sailing kit?
Yes. We specify a V-Class with a protected load area for regatta work, so foul-weather gear, dry bags and wet boots travel without ruining the cabin. Club dress for the evening can be carried separately on hooks so you can change between racing and dinner without returning to your accommodation.
