The Open moves venue each year - how does that change the arrangements?
Significantly, and it is the main reason to brief us early. St Andrews, Royal Troon, Royal Liverpool and Royal Portrush each have their own park-and-ride, hospitality access and local road plan, and some sit hours from the nearest city. We confirm the host course, the access route and where the car can legally hold before quoting, rather than applying a generic golf-day plan.
Should I book a car for the whole Championship week?
If you are attending more than one day, yes. Links towns have very limited licensed vehicle capacity during Open week and local availability disappears months ahead. A week-long booking holds the same chauffeur and vehicle, covers practice days, hospitality dinners and airport legs, and is usually cheaper than four separate long-distance transfers.
What happens if play is delayed by weather?
Links weather routinely moves finishing times by two hours or more. On day-rate hire the car simply stays until you are ready, with no re-quote. On single transfers we ask for a call when the last group is on the 16th, which gives the driver enough time to reposition from the holding area to the set-down point.
Can you carry golf bags and equipment?
Yes - the V-Class takes four full-size bags with passengers, and the Range Rover two with luggage. If you are playing a nearby course around your Open attendance, tell us at booking so we specify the right vehicle rather than sending an executive saloon that will not take the clubs.
What does a day-rate booking for The Open include, and when is a single transfer enough?
A day-rate booking keeps the same chauffeur and the same vehicle with you for the whole of The Open - the car holds your coats and kit, there is no waiting charge, and an overrun simply extends the agreed hours. A single transfer suits guests attending one session with a firm finish time. Tell us the passenger count, the luggage and whether anyone is in formal dress, and we will specify the car on that basis rather than upselling you into a larger one you do not need.
